Public sector strikes will distract police from fighting crime, the Metropolitan Police commissioner has warned the Daily Telegraph. Sir Mark Rowley tells the paper that officers are already being forced to spend an “unsustainable” amount of time on work such as monitoring vulnerable people in hospitals. He adds that public sector strike action, which police are banned from taking part in themselves, could “hurt officers all the more”.
