The lead story focuses on a report that found ministers and government officials played “fast and loose” when awarding £777m in Covid contracts to a firm that employed Conservative MP Owen Paterson as a lobbyist. The paper says the report, conducted by the House of Commons public account committee, identified failures that made it “impossible to know if the contracts had been awarded properly”.
