Quoting senior Conservatives as describing the plan to oust Ms Truss as a “rescue mission”, the Observer notes that a group of MPs are due to meet on Monday to “discuss the prime minister’s future”. Giving a sense of the divide in the party, the paper says allies of Ms Truss are warning rebels that they could trigger a general election – “and ‘ensure the Tories are finished as a party'” – while also quoting an MP who says it “would be grotesque” for the PM to make another appearance at Prime Minister’s Questions. There’s also the customary photo of Mr Hunt, the chancellor, giving interviews outside the BBC on Saturday.
