The latest on the UK’s coronavirus testing system features on many newspaper front pages, including the Guardian. It reports comments by Health Secretary Matt Hancock that the issues could take weeks to resolve. The paper says people have been turning up to A&E to try to get tests, and quotes an NHS trust chairwoman in virus hotspot Bolton as saying: “One day of delays can cause hundreds more infections.”

Brexit makes the front of the Guardian. The paper says it has seen confidential government documents which warn that a “reasonable worst case scenario” in January – when the transition period ends – could see queues of 7,000 lorries in Kent. Passengers could wait an extra two hours for Eurostar trains, the paper says, adding that border disruption could ensure whether or not the UK and EU strike a trade deal.

Downing Street will face a “showdown” with Conservative MPs this week over its plan to override parts of the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement. The Guardian reports that opposition within the Tory party is growing over No 10’s plans to break international law, with dozens of Conservative MPs expected to back an amendment which would give parliament a veto of any changes to the agreement. And a poll from the British Medical Association has revealed that nearly 90% of doctors in England expect a second peak of coronavirus in the next six months.
