Several of Friday’s papers calls for more people to be put on statins in a move which could reduce the number of heart attacks and stroke deaths. The Daily Express reports that only those with a 10% or higher risk of a “cardiovascular event” over 10 years were offered the pills. Health chiefs are convinced offering the one-a-day tablet to people with a much lower risk would save thousands of lives, the paper says.
