The Daily Mail reports that ministers are facing mounting pressure to cut fuel taxes further after the cost of filling a family car with diesel passed £100 for the first time. The paper says the price hit a record average of 182.59p a litre on Sunday, according to industry figures, and filling a typical 55-litre tank now costs £100.42 – up from £72 this time last year. Experts and campaigners accused retailers of “mercilessly fleecing” diesel drivers, the paper reports.
