The Daily Mail reports the Treasury was under pressure on Thursday night to cut taxes after AstraZeneca criticised how expensive it was to do business in the UK. The global giant said it was building a plant in the Republic of Ireland and not in the UK because of “discouraging taxes”, the paper notes. This call for lower corporate taxes comes a month before the chancellor’s spring budget.
