There is an “unprecedented” risk of wildfires in much of England which has led to the Met Office issuing an ‘exceptional’ red warning for this weekend, the Daily Telegraph says. The paper reports fire services warned the government on Wednesday that “destructive blazes were likely to spread into residential areas”, driven by tinderbox dry conditions and the strong easterly winds forecast.
