The Financial Times says the new American owners of Birmingham City FC have warned that scrapping HS2 would hurt Birmingham’s economy and shake investor confidence in Britain. The paper says club chairman Tom Wagner has written to the prime minister saying that the current HS2 plans were a factor in the decision of US hedge fund Knighthead Capital Management, where he is co-chair, to invest in the club.
