The Guardian splashes on a picture of “desperate deluded” Mr Johnson leaving Downing Street for PMQs. The paper describes Wednesday as “extraordinary day” leaving him locked in “an unprecedent standoff” with his own cabinet. The Guardian quotes a Johnson ally saying: “The choice is a summer of navel-gazing and instability or a new partnership that finally moves forward and tackles the cost of living crisis and grows the economy.”
