The cost of living crisis and spiralling energy costs continue to lead the front pages. The Guardian carries an intervention from Gordon Brown, who has written in the paper to argue energy firms that cannot offer lower bills should be temporarily brought into public ownership. The paper says the former prime minister has issued a “stark challenge” to the government and warned that time is “slipping away” with major decisions “needed within days”.
