The Sunday Times has spoken to some of the Israelis who last week were working in civilians jobs but who have now been called up as reservists. Aviv, a 28-year-old carer at a mental health centre, tells the paper he lost friends in the Hamas attacks. “Everyone here knows someone who was killed,” he says. Soli, a 28-year-old British-Israeli from Leeds, says: “We’ve got people here whose families have been slaughtered. I’ll be honest, right now I only care about my people.”
