The paper says Mr Johnson is “gearing up” for a confrontation with Parliament and the courts as he seeks a new deal with the European Union, which would free Northern Ireland from the oversight of European judges. Senior officials are drawing up plans to unilaterally suspend swathes of the Northern Ireland Protocol unless “significant changes” to the current deal are agreed by Brussels, the paper says.
